Iconic Rounds 2022

Cameron Smith

The Players 2022

Cam Smith overcame the elements on a crazy Monday finish, with 10 birdies and 4 bogeys to take a huge win in Florida, and getting to celebrate with his family for the first time since the COVID lockdowns of the years before. This was the catalyst for one of the best years with a putter in recent times, and pushed Cam Smith up to 2nd in the World Rankings.

Rory McIlroy

Masters 2022

This was supposed to be the battle of the top players, with new World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler taking on Cam Smith after his win at the Players, and a Rory McIlroy going after the elusive Green Jacket once again. Scheffler took what turned out to be an unassailable lead, but Rory fought back on the last day with a -8 final round, one of the lowest ever, including an unforgettable hole-out from the bunker on 18 to punctuate his round with a birdie, and take 2nd out on his own. Too little, too late once again, but iconic nonetheless

Jordan Spieth

RBC Heritage 2022

Jordan Spieth’s final round was iconic for different reasons. “Without a putter” for the entire week, Spieth’s putting technique was forensically dissected by commentators throughout the tournament, picking out tell-tales of why this wasn’t the Speith of old for whom putting had always been a strength. With a mix of eagles, birdies and bogeys, he pulled through to face Patrick Cantlay in a playoff, taking the win at the first hole to get his hands on the famous Plaid Jacket

Cameron Tringale

Genesis Scottish Open 2022

Cameron Tringale put together a -9 opening round on an uncharacteristically calm day in North Berwick, leaping out to a huge lead over a star-studded field with the Scottish Open being dual-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. He was unfortunately unable to maintain this, and as the wind picked up, Xander Schauffele took the win with an overall score of -7. Still noteworthy from Tringale putting together one of the lowest rounds of the year

Cameron Smith

The Open 2022

At the 150th Open Championship at the Home of Golf, St. Andrews, the Australian put together one of the most dominant rounds to blow past the Saturday leader, Rory McIlroy with another masterclass with the putter, punctuated by a stretch of 5 birdies at the turn. Picking up his first Major, prior to moving over to LIV Golf, this round and tournament cemented Cameron Smith as one of the best golfers in the world
